1st-4th April 2010
April fools day… an interesting day to step aboard a dive boat. I lost my weight belt on the second day of diving, which was thankfully retrieved by one of the other divers on the dive after. For an Easter dive there was a significant lack of chocolate bunnies or eggs but plenty of giggles and silliness to make up for it. I had a good time… despite the headaches. J
‘Twas no joke on April Fool’s Day when we stepped aboard the Ocean Trek – we were in for a diving good time. Between the Port Jackson baby sharks and weedy seadragons, there were some sights to behold below the innocent looking surface of Jervis Bay. However, this never compared with the sights aboard the boat featuring Peta Prior and her buddy Banga.
What a trip. All good, all round. Great food, Sundays Easter Bunny provided far tooooo much CHOCOLATE, great company (with the exception of scuba Steve). The diving was 100% different from my home area, so very very enjoyable. All of the crew happily went beyond the call of duty for our comfort and pleasure.
We will defiantly be back again, with one simple request from my dive buddy, more loose women with low standards. Peta Prior & Gerald "Banger" Wooldridge. Ps. A huge thank you to both Mick and Lyn for there extremely generous donation of a weekend away for the "Calm Waters", a benefit fund for Murray Amor. I didn’t even need to ask.. Champions..
I came aboard the Ocean Trek with only 8 dives under my belt and a very heavy weight belt at that so every aspect was new and exciting.. The whole liveaboard experience has been awesome from the staff who attended to all our needs and fed us so very very well to my patient dive buddies Troy and Steve. I have come away with so much more knowledge that hopefully on my return you will find me off the bottom, no longer the air pig and decending at reasonable speeds so I don’t end up straddling other divers as though I’m sitting on a horse. Thanks so very to Mick, Lyn and staff.
I’d heard a lot of great stories about Ocean Trek from my friends and I know know what they were talking about. Great trip! It was all worth it for 1 dive off Aztec wall when everything seemed to be going crazy. Grey nurse shark, huge rays, wobbies and morays everywhere, amongst huge schools of fish . Awesome. Thanks to all the crew for looking after us so well.
It’s hard to add much to what has already been said. The dive off Aztec wall was certainly one of the highlights of my dive career so far – after seeing the grey nurse and teeming moray eels – the sight of 3 large rays squabbling with a couple of wobbies was the icing on the cake. Other sights were reminiscent of swimming in an aquarium. A great long weekend!
This is my second visit aboard Ocean Trek and nothing has changed. The Staff are very friendly and helpful with every aspect to do with diving. Bob’s outstanding culinary delights had us all struggling to fit into our wetsuits by the end of the trip. The highlights of the diving was when a big ray swam up to a wobbigong and gave him a big kiss and seeing squid lay eggs right in front of us. Thankyou to all for an awesome weekend.
Had a great weekend, which got better as the weather improved and the vis with it. For all the new punters out the a little chilli on the mouthpiece dramatically improves your air consumption giving you a lot of extra bottom time. Also if you think 1 bottle of wine is enough bring a second because the company is good and you’ll find yourself indulging just a little more than you thought you would.
