Easter 2012 Navigators

6th-9th April 2012

This was a beautiful weekend for diving- the boat, crew, and food were wonderful, and the dive group was easygoing and lots of fun. I came out to see weedy seadragons and saw them on two of the dives- that made the diving for me! We also saw lots of rays, sharks, and the biggest cuttlefish ever- all in all a great weekend! First time on a live-aboard and couldn’t have hoped for a better beginning! Mick, Lyn, Bob and Kev were fabulous hosts and have left a very memorable impression. And oh yeah the diving was great too! Weedy sea dragons, grey nurse sharks and a lot of beautiful stationary critters gave me many photo opportunities. With John, Zach, Anna, Saskia, Jon, Donna, Dominic, Rudd and Jen as dive buddies and the Ocean Trek Crew it all made for a fabulous Easter Weekend.

The wind was playing up all weekend, but Mick and Lynn navigated most of the bay to find the prime dive sites. Below the sea cliffs visibility on the deeper walls was 20 meters plus, which allowed the light to illuminate the colourful sponge gardens at depth. When Bob wasn’t stuffing our bellies with delicious meals and warm snacks; we were surrounded by Wobbegongs, huge smooth rays, cuttlefish, and nurse sharks around the North-western tip of Bowen Island. The sun was shining, the group dynamic was strong, and you just couldn’t really ask more of a long weekend, great trip! -Zach & Anna

Having been led astray after the first full day of day of diving by Mick with a Vodka or 2 it gave me the perfect excuse for getting lost after receiving the instructions "fin east for 10-15 metres and you’ll hit the reef". Having finned for 15 minutes and still no reef it was evident someone had moved east, or lazy navigation played a part. At least a hundred laughs were had over the weekend as well as logging my 100th dive; I could not think of a better place or hosts to have provided the opportunity. Wonderful; diving, advice, accommodation, food and service throughout the weekend, Mick, Lynn and the guys could not have done more for us. Cannot recommend Ocean-trek enough. JT-Sydney

A fantastic few days diving, I couldn’t fault the whole operation, from the in depth dive brief, choice of dive sites, and the attention to detail that only comes from years and years of experience.

Thanks Mick and Lynn for all your hard work, Bob for all the great food and Kev for good advice and a yarn or two. Dom-Newcastle.

Thanks Lyn and Mick for 4 days of superb diving: great dive briefs and expert knowledge about the specific dive sites; fab dive sites; and excellent company. And thanks to Bob for all the excellent cooking – we won’t need another meal for the next couple of days. It was a long drive to get here from Melbourne, but so worthwhile. We’ll definitely try to be back before too long and we’ll happily recommend Ocean Trek to anyone interested in a fantastic dive experience. Jon & Saskia (Melbourne)

Music Trivia, dive stories, great food, many laughs, beautiful weather and a fabulous crew made for a brilliant long weekend. Jen celebrated her 50th dive with a night dive, after learning she didn’t have to dive half naked. Baby Port Jacksons, Rays, Weedy Sea Dragons, Cuttlefish – big & small, so many Fish and friendly dolphins and seals visiting during the interval. Glad to see the Easter Bunny can swim, we will all be back for a navigation course soon! Thanks for the memories, Cheers, Jen & Ruud
